Peruvian producers demand to the Government that the artichoke be a representative product in the shipments abroad
According to Diario Gestion, in 2018, Peru exported 41,919 tonnes of canned artichoke, which meant an increase of 4.72% in volume and 1.17% in value compared to the previous year. According to this same journal, data from the Association of Exporters (ADEX), Peru billed more than 108 million of dollars in its consignments of canned artichoke to the outside.
However, Peruvian producers and exporters demand more initiatives and sufficient tools to sustain the productive chain of this crop and further enhance their representation in the export of the country.
This is because in recent years, the export of canned artichoke from Peru has been very irregular. According to daily management, in 2016 the consignments of canned artichoke from Peru abroad totaled more than 96 million of dollars; In 2015 88.8 million dollars; And in 2014, just over 93.5 million, 000. While in 2018 they reached the figure of 108,236,000 million dollars.
The canned artichokes from Peru, a product very demanded abroad
The canned artichoke of Peru pose a great demand in the markets of the United States, Spain and France, the first three buyers of this product worldwide and main destinations of the artichoke in Peruvian preserves during 2018, according to daily Management.
However, Diario Gestion also states that the quantities sent in 2018 to Spain and France were reduced compared to the previous year, that is, 14.96% in the Spanish case and 42.24% in the case of France.
For its part, the exports of canned artichoke from Peru to the United States increased by 18.95%, according to ADEX data collected by Diario Gestion.
