CONSERVAL, a European project that aims to improve the competitiveness of companies in the canning sector
What is CONSERVAL
According to Econoticias.com, CONSERVAL is an initiative co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), through the INTERREG VA Spain-Portugal (POCTEP) 2014-2020 Programme, which aims to implement a circular economy model that improves competitiveness of companies in the canning sector.
The opening event of CONSERVAL was held at the University of Porto, where several canning companies from the Galicia – Northern Portugal Euroregion were present.
Here it was explained what the project consists of and reported other aspects, such as the budget that is intended for its development, which is almost one million euros, co-financed by the Regional Development Fund, and that the initiative, led by CETAQUA GALICIA , will be held until December 2021 and the Spanish and Portuguese employers, ANFACO and ANICP, the University of Santiago de Compostela and the Gallega Enterprise-University Foundation collaborate.
According to La Voz de Galicia, the organizations involved in CONSERVAL are interested in developing innovative technologies for the transformation of waste streams into high value-added products and high business potential.
CONSERVAL environmental impact
Econoticias.com highlights that this project seeks to value the by-products generated in the canning industry so that they are used as resources. In this way, CONSERVAL contributes to the preservation of the marine space while reducing dependence on exhaustible resources and minimizing the generation of non-biodegradable waste.
According to the developers of the project, CONSERVAL will be carried out responsibly and inclusively, with all the agents involved in the value chain, as well as taking into account the social, economic and environmental impact of the project.
